The capital of Austria has always played an important role in the different phases of the European history due to it's location in the center of Europe.

Vienna, Austria’s capital, is considered to be one of the most livable cities in the world, ranking number one for the 8th year in a row for quality of living. With more than 1.8 million inhabitants, Vienna is Austria’s largest city and the second largest in the German-speaking world.

Beautiful buildings and Vienna’s unique architecture contribute to Vienna’s status as a metropolis. The imperial residency Schoenbrunn and the historical city centre are a UNESCO World Cultrual Heritage Site. The buildings on and around the Vienna Ringstrasse are especially impressive – one of which is the main university building, in which the Annual Conference - Verein für Socialpolitik 2017 is taking place.
